Pilote gives its A-classes a radical new look for 2027

Pilote is coming into the 2027 season with a radical new look to its A-class models.

The 12 Fiat-based Galaxy models come with a new front mask that is considerably more angular, with a more prominent bonnet. The new design, developed in conjunction with an external design agency, is designed to make customers prouder about owning an A-class motorhome.

The company hopes the new look is so modern that it will still look modern in five years. There is also a new back panel, which takes its inspiration partly from Pilote’s slim low-profile motorhomes in the Atlas range.

The changes also allow the French manufacturer to introduce new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features which are required under new European GSR2 regulations.

These features, which will be standard on all 2027 Pilote vehicles, include lane keeping assist, automatic energy braking, speed sign recognition (take a look at our guide to motorhome speed limits if you need a refresher on your road speeds), drowsiness and fatigue detection, and rear park assist with a reversing camera.

Other features introduced 0n A-classes include a new all-electric compressor fridge of at least 150 litres in volume, and a Truma Combi 6 DE 6000W diesel and electric hybrid heater.

The introduction of both these features means you only need a much smaller (2.75kg) gas bottle to run the hob in the kitchen. So Pilote has changed what used to be a large compartment for gas bottles near the front on the offside into a “technibox” offering easy access to the battery and fuse box.

A leisure battery of at least 200Ah has been introduced for A-classes and standard low-profiles to ensure smooth running of the fridge.

All cabs also now come fitted with the 7-inch Media Pack as standard. The 10-inch Media Pack, which includes a larger screen, and the 10-inch Media Plus Pack, which also includes an induction charger and a digital dashboard, are options.

Pilote is also introducing as an option Fiat’s 2.2-litre, 160hp engine.

Compared with A-classes, low-profiles remain relatively unchanged for 2027, although the P620D, P690S, and P720P models have been discontinued.

The A-class and low-profile 690D model, meanwhile, has been redesigned to incorporate a larger garage. This has resulted in a narrower but deeper kitchen.

Another manufacturer to be releasing news about its 2027 line-up is Frankia, with the German brand updating its more youth-oriented Neo range with A-class liners for the upcoming season.

Westfalia is also launching two Fiat-based campervans, with the models both providing flexible sleeping arrangements that allow owners to maximise storage if required.
